Dr Mikko Huuskonen was a postdoc scholar at the University of Southern California/Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute. He was working under the supervision of Professor Berislav Zlokovic since 2017. The focus of his research is the imaging of cerebrovascular pathologies in the context of Alzheimer’s disease and cerebral small vessel disease.  In his projects, he utilized in vivo and ex vivo MRI techniques that allow the team to get combined data of development of structural and vascular pathology in neurodegenerative diseases. During his doctoral training in Finland Mikko was studying the role of Alzheimer’s-related proteins and inflammation in stroke. He moved onto a new position in October 2021.
