Clinical Research Fellow position available in Edinburgh
Clinical Research Fellow in Studies of Cerebral Small Vessel Disease.
Salary: £33,131-£49,091
A clinical research fellow is required to work on studies of Small Vessel Diseases in stroke and dementia. The post is funded by the Medical Research Council as part of clinical research on vascular causes of dementia in the UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI) at the University of Edinburgh. The clinical fellow will be part of Professor Wardlaw’s team working on mechanistic studies and clinical trials of cerebral Small Vessel Diseases, and be responsible for patient recruitment while gaining skills in a wide range of clinical research, brain MRI, trials and experimental medicine methods. The work provides a suitable basis for undertaking a PhD.
The environment is world-leading in clinical research in cerebrovascular diseases and dementia. The newly formed UK DRI brings together basic, clinical and social science into one organisation to lead research into prevention of all causes of dementia at a global level. We also have exceptional international collaborative networks in stroke and small vessel diseases through Fondation Leducq, EU Horizon 2020, Stroke Association and BHF-funded research.
Candidates should have a good medical degree, full registration with the GMC, MRCP or equivalent qualification or experience, a clear interest in small vessel diseases in stroke and dementia and clinical research. You should have excellent organisational skills, good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work flexibly in a large multi-disciplinary international team.
This post will be based in the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences and Edinburgh Imaging at the University of Edinburgh, one of the World’s top 20 Universities.
